Review: TeamGroup T-Force G70 Pro (4TB) - PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD

G70 Pro (4TB)

T-Force recently introduced its latest solid-state drive, the G70 Pro M.2 PCIe SSD, which is now the flagship model of the company's NVMe lineup. Available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 4TB, the G70 Pro is designed to cater to both hardcore gamers and professional users with high data throughput requirements. The review unit, a 4TB model, features a special optional aluminium heatsink among its cooling solutions. T-Force offers two heatsink designs for this SSD model: a standard aluminum cover that attaches to the sides of the SSD, and a patented ultra-thin graphene option. These innovations are particularly aimed at enhancing the thermal management of the device, which is critical for maintaining performance under load.

The G70 Pro, along with the G50 and their respective Pro versions, are formatted in the M.2-2280 size and are equipped with these graphene heatsinks. Additionally, an aluminum alloy heatsink option is available for the G70 Pro, providing an alternative cooling solution that might appeal to users with specific thermal dynamics requirements. Importantly, all these SSD models are designed to be compatible with the PlayStation 5’s SSD expansion slot, making them an attractive option for console gamers seeking enhanced storage performance. Performance metrics for these SSDs are competitive, with the G70 and G70 Pro models offering read speeds up to 7000 MB/s. The G50 and G50 Pro models provide slightly lower read speeds of up to 5000 MB/s. The G70 and G50 SSDs include SLC caching technology to improve data transfer speeds, while the Pro variants add DRAM caching to the mix, providing a balance between cost and performance for different user needs. All models in this SSD series utilize controllers from InnoGrit, an international manufacturer known for producing reliable and stable SSD controllers.

The thin graphene heatsink, which resembles a sticker, is an innovative feature designed to fit into the constrained spaces of laptops and PS5 consoles, where larger, bulkier heatsinks cannot be accommodated. The G70 Pro supports both DRAM and SLC caching, but DRAM caching generally offers superior performance in terms of speed, with the G70 Pro capable of reaching up to 7400 MB/s read and 6800 MB/s write speeds and a rated 2960 TBW.

Offered with a 5-year warranty and available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, the 4TB SSD model is tested in this review. 4TB is sweet in the sense that you get a very high endurance rating with up to 3000 TBW (Terabytes Written), and a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 1.5 million hours. Team provides a comprehensive 5-year warranty for the  MP700 Pro SE Anyways, how will she perform, let's have a peek, shall we?
