Samsung Electronics has introduced its latest gaming monitors at Gamescom 2024, with a highlight on the new Odyssey 3D, which features glasses-free 3D technology. The event, held in Cologne, Germany, from August 21-25, 2024, is the largest gaming exhibition worldwide, attracting over 1,400 exhibitors from various sectors, including hardware, software, and game content. At Gamescom, Samsung is displaying its high-end gaming monitors, including the Odyssey 3D and models from the Odyssey G6, G8, and G9 series. Samsung’s booth, covering 800 square meters, is the company's largest and most immersive display to date.

Odyssey 3D Gaming Monitor with Glasses-Free 3D Technology

The Odyssey 3D monitor utilizes innovative light field display (LFD) technology, which transforms 2D content into 3D images using a lenticular lens on the front panel. This technology, combined with Eye Tracking and View Mapping, provides an optimized 3D experience without the need for glasses. Eye Tracking follows the user's eye movements with a built-in stereo camera, while View Mapping adjusts the image in real-time to enhance depth perception.

The Odyssey 3D supports both 2D and 3D modes, allowing users to switch based on their preference. Available in 27-inch and 37-inch sizes, the monitor features 4K resolution, a 1 ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, and a 165 Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth gameplay with minimal afterimages.

The monitor’s ergonomic design includes a Height Adjustment Stand (HAS), tilt capabilities, FreeSync Premium, one DisplayPort 1.4, and two HDMI 2.1 ports. The Odyssey 3D was recognized with the Best of Innovation award in the Gaming & eSports category at CES 2024.

Gamescom 2024: Samsung’s Immersive Gaming Experience

Samsung’s booth at Gamescom 2024 offers attendees an immersive experience, showcasing the latest Odyssey monitors in collaboration with top game developers. Visitors can explore the Odyssey OLED G8 with UHD resolution and a 240 Hz refresh rate, the Odyssey OLED G6 with QHD resolution and a 360 Hz refresh rate, and the 57-inch dual UHD Odyssey Neo G9.

• Odyssey 3D: Attendees can experience the Odyssey 3D monitor with KRAFTON's "inZOI," a life simulation game known for its realistic graphics. The monitor’s high refresh rates and fast response times ensure smooth gameplay.
• Odyssey OLED G8: The Odyssey OLED G8 enhances the gameplay of HoYoverse's "Genshin Impact" with its vibrant colors and large display, providing dynamic visuals and fluid action.
• Odyssey Neo G9 & OLED G9: These ultra-wide monitors, paired with Blizzard Entertainment's "World of Warcraft: The War Within," deliver an expansive field of view and high-resolution clarity, offering an epic gaming experience. Additional titles like "Overwatch 2" and "Hearthstone" are also featured.

Expansion of Samsung’s 2024 Odyssey OLED Lineup

Samsung has expanded its Odyssey OLED lineup, introducing three new models: the Odyssey OLED G95SD, G93SD, and G85SD. The Odyssey OLED G9 series (G95SD and G93SD) offers dual QHD resolution, a 32:9 ultra-wide screen ratio, a 1,800R curved design, Smart Hub, Gaming Hub, a 240 Hz refresh rate, and a 0.03 ms GTG response time. The 34-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SD) features ultra-wide QHD resolution, a 21:9 screen ratio, and a 175 Hz refresh rate.

These new models include Samsung's OLED Safeguard to prevent burn-ins and OLED Glare Free technology to reduce light reflection, enhancing the viewing experience. The Odyssey OLED G9 (G95D) was recognized as a CES Innovation Award Honoree in Computer Peripherals & Accessories at CES 2024.
