AMD should announce at CES in January.

Bit weird to be running it on an older version of Geekbench.

So AMD is going after the 4060 1080p sector?

Well, that`s currently the best selling card, so it makes sense.

probably more 4070, but it will depend on the clock speeds.

This is still very, very early. My guess is testing is still in the stage of "does it even work ?" Tuning for performance will come much later. --- In the end, all that matters for most of us is performance/price. Let's say that if a hypothetical 8800XT is reaching 7900XT performance, while beating it in RT, but only costs $499, then it's an acceptable buy. Anything more and it's meh, or worse, stagnation

If its really close to 7900xtx and 4080 in raster and 4070ti super in raytracing at 500$ im ordering one as soon its available. Im sure AMD will have another trick up their sleeve, the AI upscaler most likely.

If it can only match a 4070TiS in RT it's going to get destroyed by Blackwell and Nvidia will just drop the price of the Ada Supers to compete in that segment.

Id be extremely surprised if a 7900xt replacement comes in at anything under $700

Considering AMD's low market share, Nvidia is its own worst competitor. I don't foresee Nvidia jeopardising 5000 series sales by making 4000 more attractive, other than for the sake of getting rid of remaining 4000 GPU stock, but that's business as usual. Judging by what happened with the 4000 series, 5070 will barely reach 4080 level of performance. So, once 4070 Super is out of stock (assuming Jensen is willing to drop prices, which I'm not counting on, seeing how Nvidia even switched to cheaper VRAM in 4070), AMD might have a chance. It would take a whole lot for AMD to recover market share, though. Half-baked measures and lackluster products won't do it. AMD's investment money seems to be going toward AI stuff currently. Gaming GPUs probably only receive morsels and the results will reflect that.

Pretty sure the VRam switch was due to availability rather than cost.

It's the 7800XT replacement and it should come at a similar price.

I was replying to the post that suggested it may have 7900xt performance for $500

Yes, 7800XT replacement should have 7900XT performance, more in RT.

Still cant imagine its $500 on release day

If it's not, it's complete fail. 7800XT is barely any faster than 6800XT (but it sold well due to the lower initial price and better efficiency) If 8800XT is not at least 30% faster for the same price, who in their right mind would buy it, or even think about upgrading from a 6800XT/6900XT? 8800XT MUST be considerably faster than a 7900XT and not cost more than a 7800XT, otherwise it's 100% DOA.

It will be considerably faster than a 7900XT and XTX but in raytracing. As you see games like SW Outlaws have RT enabled by default and cannot be disabled same for UE5 lumen RDNA4 will perform much better.

Didn't they already say it wasn't gonna be a high end card ? more like mid range. 9000 series would get a high end one, but it will take a while.

7800xt is around £450 - £500 now for most models, i bet they drop the 8800xt at £600 minimum which is still less than a 7900xt but the new card will have better raster and much better RT than the 7900xt, they will do an NV on that for sure

It seems there will be a segmentation of N48, I suppose full N48 will hit 600.
