Is AMD even trying anymore? Zen5 isnt faster at all than Zen4.

On a positive note, my 5800X3D still rocks. 😀

I'm a little surprised this doesn't include any AI stuff, seeing as that would at least make up for the underwhelming performance uplift. In reading other reviews, it seems where this really shines is performance-per-watt. It's actually quite substantial over the 7700X.

Underwhelming. There is next to no reason to buy this.

Its very effcient indeed. AMD should have given the 9700x a 105w tdp it would show better performance.

Maybe - but it would also add a significant number of transistors (cost) and I kind of wonder how many 9700x level processors aren't paired with a dedicated GPU.

I agree; personally, I'm not interested in getting any AI cores for a while. Some day I will, but for now I'd rather wait until common applications actually make use of it. I'm glad AMD isn't shoving this down our throats.

Tell that to a mobile users 😀

At stock it would appear the uplift is a bit underwhelming, that and also the fact that this test is on DDR5 6400 CL36. The simple overclock that Hilbert applied did give a pretty decent performance boost. It appears AMD this round left a lot of headroom on the table for overclocking/tweaking. Guess they learned from all this mess with Intel. Run the chips conservatively on stock settings, and leave it to the users to crank the performance themselves.

well i didnt expect this perforannce not a good as i was hopeing for thats for sure can i ask u for some advice should i get the ryzen 7 9700x or ryzen 7 7800x3d?? ty for any help u can give me

Nice efficiency, disappointing pricing and performance considering the alternatives. AMD now competing with itself, and badly.

If your not in a hurry wait for 9800x3d.

Doing the gaming benchmarks but the 7700X isn't included for comparison? Or 5800X/5800X3D for that matter? Come on.

AMD is too conservative with their progression. Zen 5 is a fairly strong core overall and very efficient at stock clocks, but the cache hierarchy and especially IOD need a dramatic overhaul. Arrow Lake is very likely going to trounce Zen 5, in both single and multithreaded performance by significant margins.

product segmentation, gotta leave room for those X3D chips, and maybe XT models later down the line with higher tdp.

like i said above, it leaves room for X3D chips and XT models with higher tdp ready for Arrow Lake release. Its the same model as Nvidia, release a product only to hold back the Super/Ti models for later when needed.

If Intel can clean up their acts, Arrow Lake is gonna be more interesting than Zen5

then X3D will launch and then later XT models of these CPUs with higher tdp to compete with AL.

Also, I'd really like to know. Where is OP testing Callisto Protocol that he's getting 240 fps in 4K?

Problem with Intel is we know its gonna use three times as much power and run 100c on 360 AIO. Nothing is gonna change with Arrow Lake so you might just as well buy Zen5 😀
