Performance - Ethernet LAN 1 up-to 10 Gigabit
Next, to WIFI performance, the new trend is faster Ethernet. In the coming years, we'll slowly transition from 1 Gigabit towards 10 Gigabit connections, with 2.5 and 5 Gbps available. We have invested in a 10 Gigabit infrastructure to test with. We start with a 1 Gigabit uplink and then hook into the 2.5, 5 or 10 Gbps to scientifically measure the throughput. This device has one jack with a maximum of 2.5 gigabits per second.
Here we can see 2.5 Gbps throughput, with iPerf we can simulate multiple clients, and here we configured the software at 32 clients. We average out at 2.37 Gbps throughput on the 2.5 Gbps LAN connection. Which makes sense as QoS is in play as well as error-correction. 2370:8 = 296 MB/sec.
