Buuut, it's still cheaper than some AM4 mobos! I think the GB X570 Aorus Xtreme I'd gotten cost a fair bit more than that. BTW, the reviewed mobo is pretty kicka$$ lookin', has some great features to boot. Now, the Asus 😱 ROG STRIX X670E Extreme is a whole 'nother can of worm!!! I see some peeps, in the local forum I go to, have gotten that mobo, ASUS ROC STRIX RTX 4090, Corsair AX1500i....many high end parts!

While this seems dandy, I don't really have any need of an of the features that separate it from its more mainstream brethren. I'm more interested in the STRIX B650E series boards.

Yep When you see that rog strix (medium rog 🙂 ) are so close in price with top version X670E asrock taichi, normal rog and aorus master... Then you know that there is a price problem.

Strictly speculating, I guess people who are not repulsed by a 3k$ price tag on a GPU, 500$ price tags on mainboards, 800$ CPU, 300$ for RAM, and at least 1k$ for the PSU because it has to have a seperate screen you never look at anyway. The other question is, how many people of last gen's 300-350$ buyers will make the jump and spend 50% more than they did on mainboards? Probably nobody 😀

Honestly, even in an high-end build, I don't see a lot of motivation to get one of these boards vs. a 650E. They're pretty niche and it's probably why they rolled them out 6 weeks before the 650E's. I can't imagine many people choosing a 670 vs. 650E when both are available and ASUS's own comparison chart is working. Even if you're just buying the biggest and baddest, you might as well go for the gusto and get the Crosshair Hero instead.

So in order to upgrade my current system from its AM4 guise to a brand new AM5 setup this is how many Gougelandastani Plunkettes (NZ D)it's going to cost Asus ROG Strix X670E E - Gaming WIFI $999 AMD Ryzen R9 7900X $908 G.Skill Trident Z5 Silver DDR5 6000MHz 2x16GB (F5-6000J4040F16GX2-TZ5S) $541.26 Total $ 2448.26NZD HOLY CRAPOLA and then if I wanted to also upgrade the GPU aswell to an RX7900XT you can add another 2+ grand on top BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE because I still run with an Silverstone Raven RV02 case I'll also need to replace that (Probs with O11D) and the cooler will also have to be replaced with and AIO of atleast 360 so that'll be another 800 plunkettes on top of that aswell 😱 😱o_O 😡 😡 😡 😡
